San Pedro Main Street Corridor Facade Program Launches Amid Fairgrounds Redevelopment Buzz

ALBUQUERQUE, NM — With the eyes of the city focused on the proposed redevelopment of the New Mexico State Fair Grounds, Revitalize San Pedro Partnership (RSPP) is stepping up to ensure the surrounding community doesn’t get left behind.

RSPP has launched the Facade Squad, a hands-on, community-centered opportunity for businesses and property owners along the San Pedro MainStreet corridor to transform their storefronts—at no cost.

“There’s a lot of attention on this area right now,” said executive director Adrian N. Carver. “We want to make sure the corridor is ready to thrive—not just for what might be coming, but for the people who already live, work, and visit here.”

Through the Facade Squad Program, eligible commercial and mixed-use property owners within the corridor can submit idea-based applications for improvements like fresh paint, lighting, signage, outdoor seating, and creative upgrades. Unlike traditional grant programs, there’s no reimbursement model. Instead, projects are brought to life by the RSPP Facade Squad—a team of dedicated community volunteers who help turn bold ideas into visible change.

This effort is part of a broader strategy to ensure equitable revitalization as major plans take shape nearby. “We’re taking action now to improve outcomes on the corridor for our neighbors,” said the RSPP President, Cynthia Serna.

Interested businesses and property owners are encouraged to learn more and apply online at sanpedroabq.org/facades. Applications are simple and vision-driven—no construction experience necessary. The deadline to apply is August 15, 2025.
