Brushed Between Worlds – A Dual Exhibition Bridging East & West
Albuquerque, NM – The Japanese Cultural Center of NM proudly presents Brushed Between Worlds, a collaborative inaugural art exhibition featuring the evocative works of Junko Nakao and C. Hitoshi Nakagawa. Running from June 28 through July 25, 2025, this exhibition offers a moving exploration of identity, heritage, and artistic fusion.
Born in Hiroshima and inspired by her travels, Junko Nakao captures the expressive beauty of nature and architecture, blending expressionism and realism with vibrant emotion. C. Hitoshi Nakagawa, a third-generation Japanese artist raised in Hawaii, uses sumi-e, watercolor, and acrylic to merge traditional Japanese techniques with modern expression. Together, their works form a visual bridge across cultures and continents.
The show opens with a Meet-the-Artists Reception on June 28th from 4–7 PM, where guests are invited to experience the art and hear directly from the creators, enjoy refreshments and learn more about Japanese traditions including Taiko and Shamisen.
Admission is free and open to the public.
