ALLEYWAY MURAL LOOP ECOSTEWARDS FELLOWSHIP APPLICATION

About the Fellowship:

We're excited to invite young people from the San Pedro Corridor community to apply for the Alleyway Mural-Loop Summer Fellowship! As a Youth Fellow you'll play a central role in transforming an alleyway through public art and will gain leadership and mural design experience that will carry you forward with helping shape the identity of the San Pedro Corridor.

This is a paid opportunity — each selected Youth Fellow will receive a $550 stipend for their participation. Prior art experience with mural design is encouraged but not required. What matters most is your enthusiasm, your connection to the community, and your willingness to show up, learn, and collaborate. We welcome young people of all backgrounds and experience levels to apply. We especially encourage young people who live or work along the corridor to apply.

As a youth fellow, you'll work closely with a professional muralist mentor and a cohort of other youth fellows, moving through the full mural process — from early concept and design through to final installation — with input from property owners at each stage. Alongside your mural work, you'll take on a leadership role by helping plan and lead monthly community stewardship days, where you'll bring neighbors together around cultural storytelling, mural design, and ecological care along the corridor. Materials for the murals and stewardship days are provided by the Revitalize San Pedro Partnership.

Commitment:

We want to set you up for success, and that starts with showing up together. Selected Youth Fellows are expected to participate in all scheduled fellowship sessions, which are designed to give each mural team the time, support, and community connection needed to bring a meaningful mural to life by August 12, 2026.

The fellowship schedule includes celebration events, weekly workshops, and monthly stewardship days. Wednesday workshops run from 10am–12:30pm and are where the core work happens — building mural design skills, collaborating with your muralist team, and partnering with property owners to develop and refine your concept. Stewardship days fall on the last Saturday of each month and offer an opportunity to step into a leadership role, bringing the broader community together along the corridor to participate in activities about cultural storytelling, mural design engagement, and ecological care.

Program Schedule: Please ensure you can commit to the following scheduled dates.

  • Kick-off Event: 6/3, 5-7pm

  • June Workshops: 6/10, 6/17, 6/24

  • Stewardship Day 1: 6/27, 10-2pm
